Design
While advertisers have creative liberty designing their ads, The Gambia Journal LLC Online mirrors the “Advertising Acceptability” guidelines of The Gambia Journal LLC print edition and reserves the right to decline any advertising; for example, ads mimicking “alert” windows or false computer message screens. Additionally, ads with a white or transparent background must include a 1 pixel-wide border. Animating ads (includes all rich media and video) must last no longer than 30 seconds. Our Sales executives and Advertising Services staff can provide more detailed information. Please inquire

Rich media

The Gambia Journal LLC Online supports rich media advertising. All rich media ads are tested on a matrix of browsers and platforms before posting. We reserve the right to refuse any rich media that does not function properly in this testing environment. We are not responsible for fixing code that does not function properly or causes other problems. We require a minimum of 5 business days to test rich media for performance and stability.

As a general rule-of-thumb: any interaction with an ad must be user-initiated. For example, ads can only utilize audio on user click (not mouse-over), and, should the user click to hear audio, an obvious “Off” button must be available.

Advertising requiring the use of plug-ins like Flash and Shockwave must utilize “sniffer” code to detect if the user has the required plug-in and display an alternate image if the user does not have it.

Please provide a sizable EPS file with an attached Web palette.

Ads served by third-party agencies

We must be notified of changes to banner rotation and given the opportunity to preview new ads before they run on the site.

Please send advertising creative to web@thegambiajournal.com. If ads are sent without an accompanying insertion order, please include identifying information such as client’s and/or agency’s contact name, e-mail address and telephone number. A short description of the flight and run date is also helpful. The Gambia Journal LLC Online will start a campaign with as many as 10 ads initially and change up to 5 ads at once during its flight. Please allow 3 business days to process simple image and GIF89 animated ads and 5 business days to process all other types of creative such as rich media ads.

Discounts
Qualified agencies may apply a 15% discount.

Cancellation Policy
Advertiser may cancel most campaigns with 15 days notice. Rates will be adjusted accordingly, and client will be rebilled.

Privacy Policy
All advertising banners served by a third-party agency that use cookie technology MUST submit a link to that agency’s “privacy statement” page. Any ad banners that send a cookie to our subscribers that don’t comply will have the advertising removed from the site immediately.
